Meet the Teacher!

Meet Covenant Presbyterian Preschool's Lead Two's teacher, Ms. Bonnie Bownds!  She has been at Covenant for 4 years.  Before coming to CPP, Ms. Bownds earned her degree in Interedisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas.  She had two jobs before coming to Covenant; one as a Children's Ministry intern and another at a coffee shop.

Ms. Bownds does not have any children (other than her precious kiddos at CPP!), but something really interesting about her is that she married her husband only two days after their one year anniversary!  They have a SharPei/Bassett Hound mixed dog named Boris.  They say he has a quirky personality and they're pretty sure he thinks he's a human!

One of Ms. Bownds' favorite treats is a handful of dried figs.  She loves to take walks with her husband, cook, watch movies and play board games with friends. If Ms. Bownds could be a cartoon character, she would be Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender series.  She's actually watched the entire series and she says Toph is awesome!

Ms. Bownds has loved working at Covenant.  She says that everyone is so happy to be here and the parents are amazingly supportive!

Bible Units

Take some time to check out what Bible Unit your child is studying at school... You might find great opportunities to discuss what he/she is learning at home!

The children have been learning about MosesPastor Jill and Pastor Paul have reminded them that “I Can Pray to God and Thank Him for His Goodness.”

Make and Take

If you haven't been able to check out the Make and Take, be sure to stop by on November 14th and 15th, Wednesday and Thursday, to pick up the newest craft.  This is such a quick and easy way to spend time with your child, while having something new and interesting to work on!

**  If possible,  bring a photo of your family, child, or pet – we will be making “picture puzzles.”  There will also be other options available if you forget!

Covenant Happenings

Wednesdays for Children at Covenant
On Wednesday nights from 6-7:30 children four years old through 4th grade are invited to meet with Coach Kelly for a time of very active games with a Biblical message. Midway through the evening the kids are divided into age groups to explore the Bible through story time, crafts, snacks and Bible story videos.
To reserve childcare for children three years and younger during Wednesday night activities, contact childcare@covenant.org.

Children's Choirs
Covenant offers children's choirs for children ages 4 by Sept. 1, 2012, through 6th grade. The choirs rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. during the school year. In addition to experiencing the joy of music and singing, our choir members learn the importance and the excitement of being actively involved in worship. The children sing special music at worship services, present a Christmas program, and perform in our annual spring musical.
  • Choristers: 4th - 6th grades
  • Carolers: 2nd and 3rd grades
  • Sunshine Singers: 1st grade
  • Praise Makers: Kindergarten
  • Music Makers: Pre-Kindergarten

It incorporates food, games, computers, science, art, music and storytelling. The children are divided into groups according to grade and gender and are led by “Shepherds” to a different lab each week. The hands-on lesson presented at each station reflects stories being studied throughout the year.
“Bible Bucks” are issued to students for memorizing the point of the day, the scripture of the month, leading in prayer, etc. Those bucks can be redeemed at our “Inspiration Store” where kids can purchase items that reinforce what we are teaching in zone k-4.
