Lent Begins

Covenant children continued this week with the Bible concept God Wants me to Love and Care for Others and verse "Let us love one another." I John 4:7. This week's Bible story is One Man Thanks Jesus (Luke 17:11-19). This week also marks the beginning of Lent. Everyone should have received Traci Smith's Lenten Family Practices Calendar at the cubby. If you misplaced your copy, download a copy here. Traci Smith also offers a blank calendar if you'd like to customize your family's Lenten practices.

Love is in the Air

Happy Valentine's Week!

It seems love is everywhere this week. But this is especially true at Covenant. The children just wrapped up the Bible concept "God Loves Everyone" singing "I Will Be Glad" and "Jesus Loves Me". The new Bible concept is "God Wants Me to Love and Care for Others" and the verse is "Let us love one another." I John 4:7. They will be hearing the story of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) this week and singing "Let Us Love", "Must Be Done in Love" and "Love Each Other"  - lots of LOVE!!!

Most classes will be celebrating Valentine's Day this week with parties at the end of the week. As a reminder, we are a NUT-FREE school so it is extremely important that treats to be shared with your child's class NOT contain any type of nuts. Of course, we encourage other items to exchange such as band-aids, stickers, tattoos, etc. which are always nut-free.

CROP Walk
In the Spring, communities all over the United States participate in the CROP Hunger Walks. (These began as Communities Responding to Overcoming Poverty (CROP) and today are sponsored by Church World Service (CWS), an international relief agency. Typically 25% of the money raised stays in Austin and the rest provides stays in Austin and the rest provides help for needy people through the world. This year's Austin CROP Walk will be held Sunday, March 1st at Camp Mabry, starting at 2:00. It's an easy 1 mile walk the whole family can participate it. We would LOVE for our CPP families to wear their blue Covenant shirts and represent Covenant! You can sign up and donate online by finding the Covenant Presbyterian Team here. Let's help "End Hunger One Step at a Time". Please contact Laura Hargrave, Presbyterian Women Missions Coordinator, Walker Captain if you have any questions. She can be reached by email or phone at 512-336-0358.
