Special Report - Upcoming Events

The Amazing gRACE Fall Fundraiser

Well, it's almost time for our Fall Fundraiser and this year we are excited to introduce The Amazing gRACE!  Be on the lookout for more information arriving in your child's cubby, emails and signage around the school.  Here are a few details to get you started...

What:  The Amazing gRACE Fall Fundraiser
When: October 1st through October 24th (Dad's Pizza Night!)
How:  While raising money for Covenant Presbyterian Preschool and "gRacing" to make as much money as possible for our sweet school, each class will be taking donations ($25 suggested minimum) in an attempt to win a class Cookie Party!
Bonus:  The class with the most donated will win the Cookie Party, but in addition, each donation of $25 will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a $250 Spa Package to Milk and Honey.  To clarify, if you donate $25 towards your class' Cookie Party, then you will be entered once for the Spa Package, $50 (entered twice), $75 (entered three times) and so on.

Thank you in advance for your AMAZING support of our school... let's get our gRACE on!!

HopeFest

The Preschool’s Parent Advisory Team is undertaking its mission project for the year, HopeFest, which will occur on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9:30am-3:00pm at Reagan High School.
HopeFest is sharing love in practical ways with the neighborhoods around Reagan High School, including a day of celebration at Reagan on Saturday, October 26th. Churches, community groups and neighbors from all over Austin will be partnering to meet needs and empower families with resources. Last year, thousands of people were helped by HopeFest!
The PAT is helping  gather the items needed: gently used infant and children’s clothes, maternity clothes, children’s books, baby care items (bottles, crib sheets, blankets, towels) and equipment (strollers, cribs, pack and plays); no toys please.   If you have these items, the boxes are on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Fellowship and Education building.  They will be out until Thursday, Oct. 24th.
For more information, contact PAT President Kristen McDavid @ kkmcdavid@gmail.com.

Bible Units

As I'm sure you've already heard from your little ones, Chapel is an especially exciting time during the week where our kids visit the sanctuary and learn a Bible Story.  They have "guest speakers" such as Covenant's pastors, Jill Williams and Munn Hinds, as well as Christy Milam, our Director, and Gayla Stuart, the Director of Children's Ministries for the church.  The students sing, dance and learn about God... it's wonderful!  If you have a chance, come up and join us one day in Chapel... You'll quickly see why it's a favorite time of week for students and teachers alike!
This month our little ones are learning that "God Made Everything in the World" and that "God Loves Me and Always Helps Me."  They are learning through scripture that "God made the world and everything in it" (Acts 17:24) and to "Hear the word of God and obey it" (Luck 11:28).  Please take time to ask your kids about what they are learning in Chapel and to discuss their discoveries.  You may learn something new, too!

Make and Take

We are so blessed to have the Make and Takes back this year!  For those of you that are new to us, Make and Takes are a fun craft for you and your kids, that can be assembled here at school and then taken home to enjoy.  They are educational and clever, but most of all, a way to create a fun time out for you and your kids!  Make and Takes are offered one Wednesday and Thursday per month, directly after drop off.

This month, the Make and Take will be on Wednesday, September 18th and Thursday, September 19th.  Each month will be hosted by a different set of parents, beginning this month with Kristen McDavid and Erinn Windler.  Thanks in advance to all of our volunteers for the year... we're super excited to see the fun Make and Take crafts that will be coming our way!!

Wednesdays for Children at Covenant
On Wednesday nights from 6-7:30 children four years old through 4th grade are invited to meet with Coach Kelly for a time of very active games with a Biblical message. Midway through the evening the kids are divided into age groups to explore the Bible through story time, crafts, snacks and Bible story videos.

Covenant offers children's choirs for children ages 4 by Sept. 1, 2012, through 6th grade. The choirs rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. during the school year. In addition to experiencing the joy of music and singing, our choir members learn the importance and the excitement of being actively involved in worship. The children sing special music at worship services, present a Christmas program, and perform in our annual spring musical.

It incorporates food, games, computers, science, art, music and storytelling.
